Hidden Lines

Location & Year

A video and light installation for the Brighton Digital Festival 2014

Description

An empty space comes alive: Deep blue light pervades a disused shop at the heart of Brighton´s city center. On the floor a domestic robot trundles along, bumping into walls, turning, moving back across the space in an endless, pointless journey. From outside passersby are able to look in and wonder at the unfolding narrative, bring their own reasoning and connections to it. The words projected onto the wall are Haiku, the famous Japanese poems that can draw a sketch in one´s mind in three short lines. The viewer must be quick to catch the Haiku while the robot with its mounted spy camera approaches the poem - before it turns away and heads back into the space.
