Futile exercises

A kinetic installation for the exhibition EDITION 1 at Phoenix Brighton, 2019

What does it take to create a piece of art? The endless futile attempt to paint a line with a paint brush onto a pad turns into an agonising challenge of the viewer's patience. There are several conditions that need to come together in this very fragile installation, in order to achive this noble task. The paint brush only paints with water onto blotting paper, mounted onto a black pad: The lines evaproate within a few minutes - nothing is permanent.
